Notes on Slow Tailoring

How our atelier approaches a season — from swatch to sample to shelf.

There's a rhythm to a small studio that resists explanation until you've stood in one. Bolts arrive at eight; the cutting table is cleared by nine; by mid-morning the first toile is walking the room.

We spend an unreasonable amount of time on colour. A cream that leans too pink pulls the whole collection off centre. An olive that reads too grey and the coat lands cold. So we sample, and sample again, until the palette sits like weather — obvious in retrospect, impossible before.

On patience

The pieces we're proudest of are the ones we almost cut. A jumpsuit that took four fittings before it stopped feeling costume. A trouser we abandoned in November and returned to in February with fresh eyes.

None of this scales. That's rather the point.
